Ubigi, aloSIM or Amigo eSIM: Which One Fits Your Trip?

Ubigi, aloSIM and Amigo eSIM fit different trips, not one universal winner. Ubigi listed the cheapest 10GB, 30-day plan and a profile you can reuse on later trips. aloSIM cuts plans to the day and documents what its free number is and what calls cost. Amigo eSIM's UK packages reach 250GB at the lowest price per GB of the three, and its Europe plan fits only if your route stays inside its 44-entry list, six entries of which are French overseas territories.

Amigo eSIM publishes this comparison and is also one of the three services in it. The 14 criteria below were fixed before any price, plan or rating was checked, with France as the reference country and the United Kingdom added alongside it, and every figure comes from a direct read of each provider's own site. The full methodology, including the date the data was collected and how disputed figures were resolved, sits near the end of this article.

Ubigi vs aloSIM vs Amigo eSIM at a Glance

You've probably got three browser tabs open, and each plan card counts something different: different gigabytes, different validity windows. In one case, the page price differs from the checkout price. The table below puts all three providers on one rule, in euros, for the United Kingdom, for France and for each provider's Europe plan.

Five terms are worth defining before you read it:

  • Entry package: the cheapest one-off plan with a fixed data pool (unlimited and recurring plans excluded). The cell always shows the actual pool size and validity, since they differ between providers.
  • 10GB / 30-day package: the cheapest one-off plan with a pool of at least 10GB and validity of at least 30 days. Amigo has no 10GB tier; its closest match, 12GB in France and Europe and 40GB in the UK, is marked as such rather than treated as the same package.
  • Lowest price per GB: for the UK, the lowest price divided by the data pool among a provider's 30-day one-off packages with a fixed pool; unlimited plans are excluded.
  • Europe plan: each provider's own regional plan named "Europe," using that provider's own country list. The three lists don't match, and the table names where they differ.
  • Unlimited: a plan with a fair-use cap, not a plan without one. This article doesn't use the word without a cap attached to it, published or not.

All prices are shown in euros, exactly as each provider's own site displays them, with no conversions. For some France and Europe packages, aloSIM shows two different euro prices, one on the plan page and a lower one at checkout; the table marks both.

Which currency actually reaches a customer's card is a separate question none of these pages fully settle. Ubigi's FAQ lets a website buyer choose the payment currency, with EUR among the options; aloSIM's terms describe the billing currency as the one the shopper picks; Amigo's terms say prices are "charged in GBP, EUR, or USD", and its pages show EUR by default, with a switcher for USD and GBP.

Ubigi

Ubigi is a brand of Transatel, a subsidiary of NTT, and it sells nothing but mobile data. Transatel describes itself as an MVNO enabler running its own core network, with direct access agreements with local carriers, rather than reselling someone else's eSIM platform. Ubigi sells three plan types: one-off, monthly and annual.

Ubigi: pricing and data plans

Ubigi's 10GB, 30-day package costs €11 in the United Kingdom, €10 in France and €15 on Ubigi's 38-country EUROPE plan, the same pool and the same number of days in each case.

Package United Kingdom France EUROPE
500MB / 2 days n/a n/a €2
3GB / 30 days €5 €4 €7
10GB / 7 days €9 €8 €12
10GB / 30 days €11 €10 €15
25GB / 30 days €22 €19 €29
50GB / 30 days €32 €29 €54

Only rows with the same pool and the same number of days are the same package priced twice; the EUROPE plan otherwise costs more for the wider footprint. In the UK, the 50GB, 30-day package works out to €0.64 per gigabyte, the lowest price per GB among Ubigi's UK fixed-pool packages.

Ubigi also sells unlimited France plans, each with a fair-use cap on total data for the whole plan, not a daily reset:

  • 1 day, €6, capped at 7GB
  • 7 days, €20, capped at 25GB
  • 15 days, €25, capped at 30GB
  • 30 days, €39, capped at 60GB
  • Monthly recurring, €26, capped at 60GB

Past the cap, speed drops to 2 Mbps for the rest of the plan; Ubigi's explanation of its unlimited plans and fair use describes that same throttled speed a second way elsewhere on the same page, as "up to 1000 Kbps (2 Mbps)."

In the UK, Ubigi's unlimited plans cost €5 for 1 day (capped at 7GB), €21 for 7 days (25GB), €32 for 15 days (30GB) and €44 for 30 days (60GB), with the same 2 Mbps after the cap.

Ubigi also sells monthly and annual plans for France: three monthly options up to an unlimited tier at €26 a month, and two annual plans, 5GB or 20GB a month, paid upfront for 12 months. A monthly plan can only be cancelled after three months, and an annual plan can't be cancelled or refunded at all. A first website purchase can only be one-off; recurring plans need an existing Ubigi account.

UbiClub, Ubigi's loyalty programme, credits UbiCoins worth 3% of the amount paid up to $19.99, rising to 8% above $40, but only inside the app; a website purchase earns nothing. Its referral programme gives 50% off a referrer's next plan and 20% off a friend's first purchase, for up to 20 referrals.

Ubigi: coverage and network

Ubigi's destination selector lists 206 countries and territories. Ubigi's main EUROPE plan covers 38 countries and territories, including France and the United Kingdom, but not Turkey or Iceland; both sit instead in a wider, unpriced plan called EUROPE EXTENDED (55 countries and territories).

Ubigi also lists two smaller, unpriced regional plans, SCANDINAVIA & BALTIC (8 countries) and ISLE OF MAN + CHANNEL ISLANDS (3), plus two global plans by name only: WORLD and BEST WORLD. In France, Ubigi lists four partner networks: Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, Orange and SFR. Its FAQ names Orange and Free Mobile as its 5G partners, but warns that a device may not switch to 5G automatically and has to be set manually to one of those two networks. In the UK, Ubigi lists two partner networks, EE and Three, and its FAQ lists the UK among its 5G countries with both.

Ubigi: voice, texts and hotspot

Ubigi is a data-only service on three points:

  • No phone number, voice calls or SMS. Ubigi's terms state plainly that Transatel does not let you place or receive calls, including to emergency numbers, or send or receive SMS; calls and messages go through apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime or Skype instead.
  • Hotspot is allowed. Plan pages say "data sharing allowed," and the App Store listing says tethering works for multiple devices.
  • A daily or separate hotspot cap is not published.

Ubigi: activation, top-up and refunds

Ubigi counts validity from the moment you actually arrive, and you can buy on the website without an account. You can also top up the same profile later.

Topic Ubigi
Start Begins on arrival in a covered area (SmartStart), or immediately if you're already there; an unactivated plan expires 6 months after purchase
Purchase and install Prices visible without an account; a website purchase needs no account, with the QR code emailed within minutes; an app purchase needs an account and the app installed first
Top-up and reuse The same profile can be topped up without a new QR code, even without Wi-Fi or an active plan; one profile works again on later trips and in other countries
Refund Only if the QR code hasn't been scanned; you must ask within 14 business days of purchase

Buying the plan long before you travel, then testing the QR code early to make sure it works, closes your own refund window before the trip even starts: scanning the code ends the refund rules in Ubigi's terms and conditions, whatever the reason for asking.

Ubigi: support, ratings and limitations

Ubigi's support runs through a web form with 10 request types, from a missing QR code to account deletion, plus a chatbot Ubigi states is available every day. It publishes no support email or phone number. Its site and app come in 18 languages, though that's the interface, not a guarantee of support in that language.

Ubigi has the largest review base of the three: 4.1 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 46,267 reviews. Its app rates higher on the App Store, 4.6, than on Google Play, 3.6.

An annual plan can't be cancelled or refunded at all, and Ubigi states its app and website can't be reached from inside Turkey or the UAE, so a plan must be bought and installed before arrival.

aloSIM

aloSIM is provided by AffinityClick Inc., a company based in Ottawa, Ontario. It buys network access from third-party carriers rather than owning its own network. aloSIM sells one-off plans only, with no subscriptions or automatic top-ups, and its free phone number comes from a sister app, Hushed.

aloSIM: pricing and data plans

aloSIM's cheapest France package costs the same on the page and at checkout. Its 10GB, 30-day package is where the two prices stop matching: €20.00 on the France page against €19.00 in the checkout summary, and €36.00 against €34.00 for the same package on the Europe plan. In the United Kingdom, the page and the checkout summary agree: €3.50 for the cheapest package and €19.00 for the 10GB, 30-day package.

aloSIM doesn't explain the gap between the two figures in France and Europe.

aloSIM's France page and its UK page each list 24 one-off packages in total; six representative tiers appear below, with the page/checkout split shown for the 10GB, 30-day package in France.

Package United Kingdom France
1GB / 1 day €3.50 €3.50
5GB / 7 days €8.00 €8.00
10GB / 7 days €13.00 €13.00
10GB / 30 days €19.00 €20.00 page / €19.00 checkout
20GB / 30 days €30.00 €30.00
50GB / 30 days €46.00 €46.00

In the UK, the 50GB, 30-day package works out to €0.92 per gigabyte, the lowest price per GB among aloSIM's UK 30-day fixed-pool packages.

Its Europe plan has 7 packages in total, all shown below.

Package Price
1GB / 7 days €5.00
2GB / 15 days €8.00
3GB / 30 days €13.00
5GB / 30 days €19.00
10GB / 30 days €36.00 page / €34.00 checkout
50GB / 90 days €95.00
100GB / 180 days €180.00

aloSIM also sells unlimited plans, in more validities than a fixed-GB plan:

  • United Kingdom: 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days, from €5.00 to €70.00
  • France: 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days, from €5.00 to €65.00
  • Europe: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days, from €11.00 to €70.00

A fair-use notice on all three pages caps full-speed data at 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps; the terms of service instead state 512 KBPS. One quirk in the France ladder: the 7-day unlimited plan, €42.00, costs more than the 10-day plan, €32.00.

aloSIM's loyalty programme, aloCASH, returns 5% of every purchase as credit, usable once $1 has accumulated. Refer & Earn gives a new customer $3 off and the referrer $3 in aloCASH, once the referrer has made a qualifying purchase.

aloSIM: coverage and network

aloSIM's destinations list holds 208 entries: 198 single countries or territories plus 10 regional plans.

Its Europe plan lists 35 countries, including the United Kingdom, Turkey and Iceland; Poland is not on the list. In France, aloSIM names Free Mobile and Société Française du Radiotéléphone as its networks, with average speeds given as LTE/5G. In the UK, it lists EE and H3G, tags both 5G and gives average speeds as LTE/5G, though its UK FAQ names EE alone.

aloSIM: voice, texts and hotspot

  • aloSIM's data packages are data-only; the plan itself carries no phone number.
  • Most plans, not every plan as some of aloSIM's own pages claim, bundle a free number instead, through its sister app Hushed: a US or Canadian VoIP number that works over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • The free number lasts as long as the data package, up to 30 days, and comes with $3 of pay-as-you-go credit; how aloSIM's free phone number promotion works explains that Hushed bills calls and texts beyond that credit, with international calls between $0.04 and $0.70 a minute.
  • aloSIM's terms describe the number as a promotion offered at its own discretion, not available in every country; the list of excluded countries isn't published.
  • Hotspot use is allowed and draws from the plan's own data pool. On unlimited plans, tethering is limited to your own devices and immediate travelling party, and a separate daily hotspot cap is not published.

aloSIM: activation, top-up and refunds

aloSIM counts validity from activation, which starts itself the moment your device connects to a network in the plan's country.

Topic aloSIM
Start Counted "after activation"; activates automatically on first connection to a supported network in the plan's country
Purchase and install Prices visible without an account; account needed at checkout; automatic, QR-code or manual installation, declared at 90 seconds to under two minutes
Top-up and reuse Top up the same eSIM without reinstalling, but only with a package for the same country or region; up to 5 reinstalls on one device, then a new phone needs a new purchase
Refund Terms make refunds discretionary and don't guarantee acceptance, amount or timing

An iPhone or iPad on iOS 16.4 or later can start that countdown the moment you install the eSIM, if the device is already in the plan's country and reaches a supported network; aloSIM's own help centre advises waiting to install until you're ready to use the data. Under aloSIM's terms of service on refunds, a full refund can be requested if the eSIM was installed but no plan was ever activated, but acceptance is "at aloSIM's discretion" either way.

aloSIM: support, ratings and limitations

Support runs by email and live chat, both available 24 hours a day. The help centre says the app works in four languages, with others relying on automatic translation.

aloSIM's Trustpilot score is 4.0 out of 5 from 2,352 reviews. Its app rates 4.6 on the App Store and 4.5 on Google Play.

The clearest limitation sits in the refund terms: a plan paid fully or partly with aloCASH is not eligible for any refund. A separate clause lets aloSIM limit or suspend a plan if usage looks like a permanent connection rather than temporary travel. aloSIM publishes no service notice for Turkey or the UAE, the way Ubigi does.

Amigo eSIM

We're Amigo eSIM, a business name of Core Communication Retail Limited, a company registered in England and Wales.

A fuller comparison of us against four other providers is in our five-way comparison of Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad and Amigo.

Amigo eSIM: pricing and data plans

Our cheapest package, for the UK, France or Europe, is 1GB for 7 days at €5. In the UK we also sell larger packages on O2 and Three, from 40GB for 30 days at €11 to 250GB for 30 days at €34, and the 200GB package at €23 works out to about €0.115 per gigabyte, the lowest price per GB of the three providers' UK packages in this comparison (Ubigi's lowest is €0.64, aloSIM's €0.92).

We don't have a 10GB tier of our own: the closest match is 40GB for €11 in the UK and 12GB for €18 in France and Europe, which on the Europe plan works out to about €1.50 per gigabyte: the same rate as Ubigi's 10GB package, and under half of aloSIM's roughly €3.40 to €3.60 per gigabyte for its 10GB package.

UK package Network Label Price
1GB / 7 days Amigo Plan Data Only €5
40GB / 30 days Three Data, Minutes and Texts €11
100GB / 30 days Three Data, Minutes and Texts €18
125GB / 30 days O2 Data, Minutes and Texts €17
200GB / 30 days Three or O2 Data, Minutes and Texts €23
250GB / 30 days O2 Data, Minutes and Texts €34
UnlimitedGB / 30 days Three Data, Minutes and Texts €39
Package Label France Europe
1GB / 7 days Data Only €5 €5
6GB / 30 days Data, Minutes and Texts €11 €11
12GB / 30 days Data, Minutes and Texts €18 €18
18GB / 30 days Data, Minutes and Texts ("Best value") €23 €23
30GB / 30 days Data, Minutes and Texts €39 €39

Our separate World plan, always labelled "Data Only," runs from 5GB for 14 days at €22 to 20GB for 30 days at €48.

We don't sell an unlimited plan for France or Europe, and we don't run a loyalty, cashback or refer-a-friend programme for customers. The only unlimited tier we do sell, UnlimitedGB, is UK-only at €39 for 30 days, with a Fair Use Policy that allows throttling "at specific times of day and/or in specific locations" and no numeric threshold stated.

Our pages show prices in euros, with a switcher for US dollars and pounds.

Amigo eSIM: coverage and network

We list 186 destinations across our catalogue: 179 individual countries or territories plus 7 regional entries.

Our Europe plan's country list runs to 44 entries, the longest of the three by entry count (Ubigi's runs to 38, aloSIM's to 35), including France, Poland, Iceland and six French overseas territories: Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin. The plan includes the United Kingdom but not Turkey, so it's worth checking if your route crosses into Turkey. Our UK page sells separate O2 packages (125GB, 200GB and 250GB) whose Details window shows coverage "United Kingdom + Europe," with the note that the plan must be activated in the UK first; it shows no country list for the Europe part. Our Three and 1GB UK packages cover the UK only.

In France, our 1GB plan runs on Orange and Free Mobile; the 6GB-to-30GB plans run instead on "Three & their roaming partners," without naming a French network. All our France plans declare a speed "up to 5G," varying by location. In the UK, our 1GB plan runs on Vodafone and Everything Everywhere, our 125GB-to-250GB plans on O2 and its roaming partners at 5G, and our 40GB-and-larger Three plans on Three and its roaming partners, up to 5G.

Amigo eSIM: voice, texts and hotspot

Five places on our own site describe calls differently:

Source What it says
Plan label (UK plans from 40GB; France and Europe plans from 6GB) "Data, Minutes and Texts"
Plan Details window UK: unlimited UK minutes and texts on O2 plans, with 50 international minutes to 42 countries on the 125GB and 200GB plans and 250 on the 250GB plan; "Calls: Unlimited" and "Texts: Unlimited" on Three plans. France and Europe: "Calls: Unlimited" and "Texts: Unlimited"
Terms & Conditions "Your Services do not allow you to make calls or access emergency services. Subject to partner networks' terms."
FAQ A data-only plan "does not support traditional voice calls or SMS"; calls go through apps like WhatsApp instead
Troubleshooting page "Amigo eSIMs provide data connectivity only," with a footnote that EE plans include unlimited texts and local calls

The Terms link the terms of O2, Three and EE, so what a plan allows depends on its operator; if calls matter to your trip, check the operator's terms for the plan you choose against our Terms & Conditions on calls and emergency services.

Our plan pages add that "O2, Three and EE plans come with a UK (+44) number," while our terms state: "You have no right to a number associated with your Plan; it may be withdrawn or updated without notice." Hotspot is listed as "Unlimited"; our FAQ allows tethering "unless otherwise specified in your plan," and our Fair Use Policy lets us throttle it without a stated numeric cap.

Amigo eSIM: activation, top-up and refunds

Installing us is a QR code by email or manual entry with an SM-DP address, and you can top up the same plan in the Amigo app. We don't state when the validity clock itself starts counting, and we consider a refund only within 30 days of purchase, for a "valid reason" our terms never define.

Topic Amigo eSIM
Start Not published; terms and FAQ describe activation as happening after purchase, then installation, then connection to a network in a covered country, without saying when the validity clock itself starts
Purchase and install QR code by email, or manual entry with an SM-DP address and activation code; Three-based plans also need a 4-digit confirmation code; prices visible without login
Top-up and reuse Extra data bought in the Amigo app; terms state "top-ups reset usage and speeds"; reuse of the same profile on a later trip is not published
Refund Considered only within 30 days of purchase, and only for a "valid reason" the terms don't define

That window counts from the date of purchase, not activation, so buying more than 30 days before you fly can close the door on a refund before the trip starts. Refunds also don't cover an incompatible or locked device, or data left unused after expiry. Our 30 days run longer than Ubigi's 14 business days, though Ubigi's refund right only lasts until the QR code is scanned.

A step-by-step installation guide covers the QR and manual methods.

Amigo eSIM: support, ratings and limitations

Our Contact us page lists an email address, help@amigosim.com, and a message form. We don't publish a phone number or live chat.

Our Trustpilot profile showed 4.4 from 84 reviews, the best score of the three.

Our Fair Use Policy bans business use of the service, and we don't publish a service notice for Turkey, the UAE or China.

Ubigi, aloSIM and Amigo eSIM by Situation: Who Should Buy Which

The nine situations below come straight out of the 14 criteria above, not a separate scorecard. Each row names a first pick with the evidence behind it and a pitfall worth checking before you pay; when two rows both sound like your trip, let the pitfall column decide.

If you… First pick Why Check before you buy
need about 10GB for a month in the UK, France or across Europe, and the price decides Ubigi; Amigo eSIM matches its UK price Ubigi's 10GB, 30-day package is €11 in the UK, €10 for France and €15 for Europe; aloSIM's matching package lists at €19.00 in the UK, €20.00/€19.00 for France and €36.00/€34.00 for Europe. Amigo's closest package is 40GB for €11 in the UK, the same price for four times the data, and 12GB for €18 on the France and Europe lists, about €1.50 per gigabyte against Ubigi's €1.00 in France and €1.50 on the Europe plan Ubigi's first website purchase is one-off only; its refund right ends once the QR code is scanned; Amigo's UK 40GB package runs on Three and covers the UK only; the Europe lists differ: 38 countries at Ubigi, 35 at aloSIM and 44 entries at Amigo, without Turkey
know exactly how many days you need in one country aloSIM aloSIM's France and UK packages come in 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days; Ubigi's run 7 or 30 days (in the UK, 7 days only for 10GB); Amigo's France and Europe plans run 7 or 30 days, and its UK packages 7 days (1GB) or 30 days The page and checkout prices disagree at 10GB; an aloSIM eSIM only works in the country or region it was bought for
travel several times a year, or to different countries, and want to keep one profile Ubigi One Ubigi profile is reusable on later trips and tops up without Wi-Fi or an active plan; Ubigi also sells monthly and annual plans. aloSIM needs a new eSIM per country; Amigo doesn't publish whether its profile can be reused A Ubigi monthly plan needs 3 months before cancelling; an annual plan can't be cancelled or refunded at all; Ubigi's own pages disagree on whether an unused profile expires after 18 or 24 months
need a number for calls or texts aloSIM for a US or Canadian number; Amigo eSIM for a UK number, conditionally aloSIM's free VoIP number from its sister app Hushed comes on most, not every, plan, up to 30 days with $3 of credit. Ubigi is data-only. Amigo's UK packages from 40GB come with a UK (+44) number, and their Details window lists unlimited UK minutes and texts on O2 plans and unlimited calls and texts on Three plans; its terms say its services do not allow calls, subject to partner networks' terms (how an eSIM with a phone number works) The Hushed number is a promotion at aloSIM's discretion, not offered everywhere; calls beyond the $3 credit are billed per minute. Amigo's 1GB UK package has no number, and the operator's terms (O2 or Three) apply to calls
plan a route that crosses the Channel, or goes on to Turkey or Iceland, under one Europe plan aloSIM's Europe plan aloSIM's list includes the UK, Turkey and Iceland. Ubigi's EUROPE plan includes the UK but keeps Turkey and Iceland in a separate, unpriced EUROPE EXTENDED plan. Amigo's list includes the UK and Iceland but not Turkey aloSIM's list doesn't include Poland. Ubigi states its app and website are unreachable from inside Turkey, undated, so a plan has to be bought before arrival
want to install at home to check your phone first, and might need your money back aloSIM, per its terms Only aloSIM's terms name "installed, but no plan activated" as grounds for a full refund, though acceptance stays discretionary. Ubigi's refund right ends the moment the QR code is scanned, within 14 business days. Amigo counts 30 days from purchase and needs a "valid reason" its terms don't define A plan paid with aloCASH is excluded from any aloSIM refund
want the highest Trustpilot score among the three Amigo eSIM, on Trustpilot Amigo's Trustpilot score is 4.4 from 84 reviews, ahead of Ubigi's 4.1 from 46,267 and aloSIM's 4.0 from 2,352 Weigh a rating built on 84 reviews against Ubigi's 46,267 and aloSIM's 2,352 before treating the gap as decisive
plan a route that stays inside the 44 destinations on Amigo's Europe plan, French overseas territories included no first pick; Amigo fits conditionally Amigo's list runs to 44 entries, including Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin, none on Ubigi's or aloSIM's Europe plan lists Its terms say the services do not allow calls, subject to partner networks' terms, and Turkey is outside the list
start your trip in the UK and carry on into Europe on one eSIM Ubigi up to about 10GB; Amigo eSIM's O2 packages above that Ubigi's EUROPE plan includes the UK: 10GB for 30 days costs €15 and 25GB €29. Amigo's O2 UK packages show "United Kingdom + Europe": 125GB for 30 days costs €17, 200GB €23 and 250GB €34, with a UK number. aloSIM's Europe plan also includes the UK, at €36.00 page / €34.00 checkout for 10GB Amigo's O2 packages must be activated in the UK first, start at 125GB and show no country list for the Europe part; Ubigi's EUROPE plan leaves out Turkey and Iceland; aloSIM's Europe plan doesn't list Poland

How We Compared These Three eSIM Providers

Every figure in this article rests on 14 criteria fixed before any price or rating was checked. The France and Europe figures were read directly on each provider's own site on 21 September 2026, and the United Kingdom figures on 6 October 2026.

Full methodology, criteria and how conflicting data was resolved: show / hide

The 14 criteria, in the order used throughout this article, and why each one made the list:

  1. Coverage and network. All 12 comparison pages surveyed for this article touch it, and so do search terms like "does ubigi work in china."
  2. Price, France and the UK. The single most universal criterion in the category, present on 11 of 12 pages; the UK was added alongside France, with the lowest price per GB on 30-day fixed-pool packages.
  3. Price, Europe plan. Kept separate from the single-country prices, since a multi-country traveller asks a different question.
  4. Plan model and limit. Covers recurring plans and unlimited plans, plus their throttling thresholds, since they all answer what you're actually buying.
  5. Validity and start. Rare in the genre, 2 of 12 pages, but a real cost trap and a direct search term.
  6. Calls, texts and phone number. 9 of 12 pages.
  7. Hotspot and tethering. 5 of 12 pages.
  8. Purchase, install and activation. Covers the account requirement, price visibility, installation method and device compatibility together.
  9. Top-up and profile reuse. Whether the same eSIM profile works again on a later trip or in another country; new to this article, 5 of 12 pages.
  10. Refund policy. Rare in the genre, 1 of 12 pages, but the highest-stakes axis for a reader's money.
  11. Customer support. 11 of 12 pages; third-party pages disagree with each other about Ubigi's own channels, which is why a primary-source check matters here.
  12. Ratings. Trustpilot plus the App Store and Google Play, read directly rather than taken from a provider's own badge.
  13. Company and operator model. Who runs the service, and whether it operates its own network or buys access from others; new to this article.
  14. Loyalty, cashback and referral. Whether a programme exists, and on what terms.

These criteria came from how often each axis appeared across the pages surveyed for this category and from what travellers search for, not from which provider does better on a given axis. The selection rule was fixed before any Ubigi, aloSIM or Amigo data was collected.

France and each provider's own "Europe" plan were fixed as the reference points before any Ubigi, aloSIM or Amigo data was collected, chosen because all three providers confirmed serving both, not because of which price they'd produce. The United Kingdom was added alongside them, with the same definitions and each provider's complete list of UK packages, so no comparison rests on one country that happens to favor one provider; the lowest price per GB on 30-day fixed-pool packages in the UK was added with it and calculated the same way for all three. Two asymmetries are worth naming: France is the home market of Transatel, the company behind Ubigi, and the United Kingdom is the home market of Amigo eSIM's operator.

"Comparable package" means two things throughout. The entry package is the cheapest one-off plan with a fixed data pool (unlimited and recurring plans excluded), shown with its actual size and validity. The 10GB, 30-day package is the cheapest one-off plan with at least 10GB and at least 30 days; where a provider doesn't sell one, as with Amigo's 12GB tier in France and Europe and its 40GB tier in the UK, the table says so rather than rounding down. Prices are catalogue prices, without promo codes.

Every price is shown in euros, as each provider's own site displays it: Ubigi after adding a currency parameter to its address, aloSIM after switching away from its default US-dollar display, Amigo by default. Which currency actually reaches a card, though, is still an open question.

Every figure comes from each provider's own plan pages, terms of service, help centre, FAQ, Trustpilot profile, App Store and Google Play listing, all read on 21 September 2026, except the United Kingdom pages and Amigo's Terms, package pages with their Details windows and Europe list, read on 6 October 2026. "Not published" means the figure wasn't found on the pages checked, not that it doesn't exist somewhere else.

This article deliberately didn't check network speed or real-world coverage, since none of the three providers publish independently verifiable measurements and no tests were run here.

Also left unchecked: which currency reaches a card; whether Ubigi's chatbot hands off to a human; whether Ubigi's Turkey and UAE notices were still in force on 21 September 2026, since neither carries a visible date; prices outside the United Kingdom, France and each provider's Europe plan; regional variants beyond that main plan, such as Ubigi's EUROPE EXTENDED; and forum threads or individual reviews, beyond the rating aggregates cited above.

Several figures had conflicting values across the sources. Here is what each provider showed and which value is used.

Disputed item Variants found Resolution used here
aloSIM's 10GB, 30-day price Page: €20.00 (France) / €36.00 (Europe); checkout: €19.00 / €34.00; in the UK, page and checkout agree at €19.00 Both shown, labelled page/checkout
Speed after the unlimited cap aloSIM: 1 Mbps (page) against 512 KBPS (terms); Ubigi: 2 Mbps (plan pages) against "up to 1000 Kbps (2 Mbps)" (FAQ) Both shown for aloSIM; 2 Mbps used for Ubigi, from its plan pages
Ubigi's eSIM profile lifespan 18 months (help centre) against 24 months (terms) Both values shown, labelled
Ubigi's terms summary against its detailed sections Summary: "cannot be refunded," cancel "at any time"; detailed sections: refund only before the QR code is scanned, 3-month minimum before cancelling a monthly plan The detailed sections, contradiction named
aloSIM's free number "every plan" (destination pages) against "most" (help centre, terms) "Most," per the help centre and terms
Amigo's calls Plan label and Details windows against terms ("subject to partner networks' terms"), FAQ and Troubleshooting page Not resolved; shown as a source/value table in Amigo eSIM: voice, texts and hotspot
